Blogging Blueprint: How to create engaging content that reflects your brand identity | Photography Business Coach
Hello Everyone! Thanks for tuning in. Over the next couple of weeks I am diving into content creation and my gosh, is this a LOADED topic!
Creating engaging content as a photographer is crucial for building a loyal audience and attracting potential clients. The problem is, it gets overwhelming…confusing…and it falls off the priority list pretty fast for most which is a major no-no :)
The following blueprint will get you in shape to be authentic, thoughtful, and with blogging and social media marketing.
But first, let these statistics sink in:
Small businesses that blog get 97% more links to their websites.
Businesses that blog experience twice as much email traffic as businesses that don’t.
72% of online marketers describe blog content creation as their most effective SEO tactic
BLOGGING BLUEPRINT:
When you sit down to write a blog post, keep in mind that ALL of the content you create can be magically recycled across all of your social media channels. It’s brilliant, and a massive time saver for social media marketing. That said, if you can get in the habit of going through this list every time you are creating content - you will be setting yourself up for long-term success in your business.
Here are some tips to help you create compelling and captivating content.
01. Know & Understand Your Audience
Understand the demographics, interests, and preferences of your target audience. Tailor your content to their needs and desires so it can be recycled from your blog to your social media channels!
02. Showcase Your Brand Personality:
Infuse your unique brand personality and tone into your content. Share personal stories, experiences, and insights that reflect who you are as a photographer. Authenticity helps establish a genuine connection with your audience and makes your content more relatable.
03. Share Behind-the-Scenes:
Take your audience behind the scenes of your photography sessions or creative process.
04. Tell Stories:
Humans are wired for storytelling. Highlight the stories of your clients, share personal experiences, or explore narratives related to your photography niche. This helps create an emotional connection with your audience (and people won’t invest without an emotional connection!).
05. Educate and Inspire:
Provide educational content that helps your audience improve their photography skills or gain insights into your creative techniques. Offer tips, tutorials, or behind-the-scenes breakdowns that inspire and motivate aspiring photographers. Sharing your knowledge builds credibility and positions you as an expert.
07. Answer Commonly Asked Questions:
Address common questions and concerns your audience may have about photography or your services. Create content that provides solutions, guidance, or advice related to your current or potential work together. This establishes you as a helpful resource and builds trust.

08. Collaborate with Others:
Collaborate with other photographers, influencers, or experts in related fields. This can include guest blog posts, joint projects, or interviews. Collaborations expose your content to new audiences, increase credibility, and bring fresh perspectives to your work.
09. Encourage Interaction + include CTA’s:
Prompt your audience to engage with your content. Always include a call to action at the end of your blog posts so visitors are never at a dead end. This will prompt a quick email or keep them wanting more (i.e. “get in touch” or “love these tips? Check out our style guide for fall of 20__”)
10. Consistency and Frequency:
Regularly publish content to maintain engagement with your audience. Set a schedule that works for you and stick to it. Whether it's weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, consistency shows your audience that you are committed and dependable.
11. Use Your Master Content Calendar to Keep Your Blog System Streamlined:
Sometimes, just looking through your best work can spark inspiration. With your master content calendar, you can plan out 6-12 blog posts with everything at your fingertips. You can do specific shoots, and dive deeper with themes and education tips + tricks for your clients. The possibilities are endless!
12. Add SEO Titles with Keywords to your Blog Post Titles:
Include powerful keywords in your blog post titles. For example after the title of the post, include: “New York City Brand Photography”
Remember, understanding your audience and providing valuable, unique, and visually appealing content is key to engaging your audience as a photographer! Marketing gets easier with time, so remember the more consistent you remain the better. Scheduling 1-2 days per month dedicated to content creation is what I recommend. It will keep you consistent without devoting too much time to it! Stay creative, stay authentic, and adapt your content strategy based on feedback and audience preferences.
